Hello and and a warm welcome from me, Gillian, the founder and sole owner of Shutter Release. I take pride in offering small, bespoke Photography and guided Tours- my tours are for up to three participants.
Originally a Biological Science Graduate, I have always been passionate and motivated by all things nature. I can, even now, see myself in my minds eye, as a 9 year old holidaying in Argyll, sitting at the cottage window, with a pair of binoculars waiting intently to catch sight of Roe Deer and Heron as they came to the edge of Loch Creran. The diversity of our wonderful Scottish Wildlife and dramatic Landscapes is truly inspirational. As I grew up my attention was drawn towards Photography, with Wildlife Photography being a particular passion.
Now with over a decade photographing in the wild, I have developed a wealth of understanding and knowledge of the Natural World. During this time I have been incredibly priviledged to have had so many memorable encounters along with some beautiful images. Each encounter has etched a very special moment on my heart.
Over many years, enthused by the chance of taking that image, I have been honing my photography skills- firstly with film and now digitally- in both Wildlife and Landscape Photography. I am committed to improving my technique and I believe that as a photographer you will never be the final article. I love nothing more than detaching from the everyday and immersing myself in the calm of nature. Whether it's something simple like the way the light is hitting on a spiders web to rutting Red Deer Stags, there is always something to see and inspire. In such a noisy and chaotic World I love nothing more than sitting quietly, seeing what I see, soaking up the beauty of nature, totally immersed in it. These moments are both calm and exhilarating. I relish the opportunity to share this kind of experience to others.
I care passionately about the ethics of venturing into natural habitats and Nature and Wildlife Photography. Preserving and conserving our Nature is paramount. As such, I will only take a maximum of 3 people on a Tour at any one time. It is my aim to leave our locations as we found them and in the hope that any wildlife has minimal disruption. It is as much about the freedom and quiet of where we go as anything else, or indeed, the actual shot.
